Large EDDIE BAIT
Large Eddie Bait - musky tackle, musky lures, musky rods, musky reels, musky baits fishing
This is the original 8 inch, 3-1/2 ounce glider style jerk bait. There is no one best way to fish an Eddie Bait. Generally, the lure will dive with a twisting wiggle on the jerk, then as you reel up your slack line the bait will turn slightly right or left and glide out to a hovering near-stop and you are ready for your next jerk. Most strikes will occur as the bait is in this gliding hover and you have to be on your toes because you will have a little slack line and the fish may move toward you after he grabs the bait.
The large Eddie just barely floats and the small Eddie just barely sinks. The small Eddie has a more erratic side to side action and is often fished with shorter twitches of the rod tip. Because of its wider side to side action the small Eddie Bait is easier to fish in heavy weeds.

Eddie Bait Company
musky lures

The original Eddie Bait has been jerked around nearly 50 years. It imitates the diving, darting, crippled-fish action of a live sucker and is the original glider style of jerk bait. The Eddie Bait is responsible for thousands of trophies and millions of thrills. It has taken Muskies over forty pounds, Northern over twenty-five pounds, even very large Walleye and Bass, and is considered among the top big fish musky lures of all time. The Eddie Bait belongs not only in your tackle box but on the end of your line.

The Eddie Bait is made of hard rock maple, and the Surfin Eddie is made of cedar. Natural wood has particular buoyancy properties that cannot be duplicated by plastic. They are individually weighted and given two coats of sealer followed by two coats of primer. They are sprayed with up to five different colors then given a super tough clear topcoat to protect the finish from hooks and those nasty teeth.

SURFIN' EDDIE BAIT
Surfin' Eddie Bait - musky tackle, musky lures, musky rods, musky reels, musky fishing
The 6 inch, 2-1/4 ounce Surfin' Eddie is a top-water version of the original Eddie Bait. It is made of cedar so the large diameter front end floats high, and the weighted rear end sits slightly down in the water. It is an extremely noisy, easy to fish "walk the dog" type of surface lure. The hooks are attached with the same type of cotter pin hook hangers that the original Eddie Bait has always used making the Surfin' Eddie very tough and tenacious.

The Surfin' Eddie is best fished with a series of short sharp downward twitches. When done correctly, the bait will swing his head from side to side at least 180 degrees making a very noisy swoosh-splash-slosh sound. The Surfin' Eddie is a very effective "pitchback lure" for fish that have followed up on something else, and he also stands very well on his own as a lure for searching new water.
